    I'd been working out religiously five days per week for about 2 years before I started Michael's program. During that time, I'd made fairly good progress for the first 6 months, but then after that I "plateau'd." I wouldn't really gain or lose after that point. I tried changing my workouts, taking every supplement under the sun (except steroids), and special diets. Then I started doing Michael's program. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was gaining muscle again. Not any ridiculous overnight changes, but I was steadily gaining real lean muscle. Within a few months of sticking to the program I was actually happy with my muscle mass and the way I looked for the first time ever. I'm a "tough gainer," meaning I naturally put on muscle slowly and I'm also much more prone to gaining fat. But this program definitely works for me. I gave it to five or six of my friends who work out as well, and every single one of them started gaining muscle MUCH faster they were previously. I was actually pretty shocked by that, because from I've seen over the years, different programs work for different people and everyone is unique. I'd never seen one program that works the best for everybody, but that is exactly what happened with this program. I guess it's because this isn't so much a "program" as it is just the basics of how gaining muscle and losing fat works. I know people who used the information in this book to get real big and also people who used it to get lean and cut, down to about 6% body fat. I'm still using this program, trying to achieve my ultimate goal, and now I'm comfortable knowing that I will--as long as I stick with the program. Good luck making your goals, too. I think this book will help you do it.

    This is an amazing book. It contains the answers to most people's questions about bodybuilding, fitness and health. It deconstructs all myths regarding weight lifting and cardio activities and comes with effective ways for you to achieve your goals. The author also explains the science facts that support the info, and that's great for credibility. You don't have to believe him. All facts are there. But probably the most valuable thing of this work is establishing in a totally clear way what you must and mustn't do to achieve 100% of your goals. So if you can't handle the lifestyle changing, you'd better re considerate your expectations. The only inconvenience is that it could be shorter. The first pages are a little repetitive. If you really want to build a great body (fast) and live healthier, this book shows you shortest path.

    I've been into working out for quite some time now and have read many books, worked with many trainers, and tried many routines. This book is one of the best I've read on getting in shape--period. Whether you're brand new or a veteran of health & fitness, you'll be glad you read this book. It strips away all the BS and hype and teaches you the time-proven, scientific principles of getting bigger, leaner, and stronger--and FAST. Like the author says, no matter how bad you might think your genetics are or how much trouble you've had trying to get the body you want, you CAN look and feel great and it DOESN'T have to consume your life--you don't have to spend hours in the gym each day or swear off "cheat" foods. Buy this book and do what it says. You won't be disappointed.

    My name is Caleb and I'm a certified personal trainer and nutritionist and I never write reviews on books...even the ones I liked... That being said, because of Mike's personal request for a review and the exceptional job he did with this book I chose to write this review. This book is outstanding. There is a wealth of practical , easy-to-digest knowledge that is put at your finger tips! The book debunks numerous well developed fitness myths, teaches meal planning, teaches proper workouts and workout programming, gives crash courses on anatomy and physiology , and much much more. Mike does a particularly wonderful job of explaining the WHY'S of everything and backs up everything he says with countless worldwide clinical and peer reviewed studies. This book shows that Mike truly cares about people and is willing to give all who read this book the tools to get the body(s) they desire. I look forward to reading more books by you Mike ! - Caleb

    This book is amazing. It shows you all the aspects of getting lean and muscular using fundamental concepts and principles backed by research. Nothing fancy, just well written and easy to digest concepts and instruction that anyone can follow. I wish this book had been around 25 years ago!

    I highly recommend Bigger Leaner Stronger. I feel like it addresses alot of the confusion that exists in the health and fitness world. Michael is very thorough in covering many topics and citing studies as well. There are several great insights that I've gained from reading the book. I've been working out for years, and I think he highlighted some of the mistakes I've made. I think this book will really help anyone dial in their nutrition, design an effective exercise program and make progress. I think this book is a must for anyone new to training, and also incredibly useful to people like myself who have been training for years but struggling for results. Dave

    Well thought out and researched guide to getting bigger and stronger. I've worked out for years but after reading this book I realized that I've been overtraining and undereating. Mr. Matthews explains how to eat more while minimizing fat gain and how to lose weight and minimize muscle loss. The workouts are shorter and more effective than my old ones Additionally, he has a wealth of free content on his website and you tube podcasts that reinforce and expand on topics from the book. I even emailed him to get some additional information and promptly received a personal reply. I recommend this book to anyone that is tired of working out and not getting the results they want.

    I was the type of person who was never able to gain weight no matter how much I worked out. I did all the right exercises but never saw much results. I was doing research and Mike Mathews book caught my eye. After reading it cover to cover I was so impressed I tallked to all my family about it. I also got his cook book. I have been following it for about a month now and have gained 5 lbs of muscle and have seen gains in the weight i can lift consistantly each week. If it turned out that integrity was Mike's middle name I wouldn't be surprised. On his website where he sells some suppliments, he lists out the research that shows the product to be helpful as well as a link for you to read that article yourself. I can't believe how cheap this life changing book is!

    I have been lifting for a while now on and off for about 4 years. I came across this book while browsing online for articles related to fitness and diet. I wanted to give it shot because of its high demand. The book: 1. Very concise and short. No need to spend lots of hours reading this book. Mike will guide you through it in a very timely manner and with good information backed with scientific proof. 2. You might think that you need answers. Well every page you turn, Mike will answer one of your questions. I was a little skeptical about his training philosophy, but at the end of the day it does work. 3. You might be a little skeptical on counting calories and sticking to a diet, but after you read this book your mind will expand how it actually works. If you want results you need to change up your game and give it a try. 4. If you were to be a beginner to weight lifting this is the right book for you. It will break down important steps and parts of this sport and it will guide you to get results from the first try. You don't need to go around looking for other insights and wasting your time listening to people that clearly are on steroids. If you want natural results read this book and move on to the next book, educate yourself and expand your knowledge It doesn't hurt to learn! Finally I want to give thanks to Mike. You can contact him about his book and he will answer any questions you might have. 6.99 for this eBook and it was worth every cent.

    I bought this book based on a friend’s recommendation. After reading it, I have recommended it to my friends and do to anyone who wants to see change in their body. The book is very easy to understand and tells you everything you need to know about exercising. This book is for a great range of people from beginners to advance weight lifters. The best part is that Mike Matthews give you all the tools you need to get the body you want. He also lists his e-mail address in the end of the book for any questions you might have. I was unsure if I would email him, if he would reply. About a week after I bought the book he e-mail me and I replied with a question which he answered. He responds within 24 hours, which is really cool. I am 4 weeks into his year program and I am already seeing change in my body and strength. If you are thinking about buying this book, stop thinking and just get it. It is worth it.

    Simplest and most effective plan ive seen Im currently using it in the middle east and am seeing visible results in two weeks I dont feel like im overtraining Its a really nice pace and clearly working Just follow the instructions and you wont be dissapointed He gurantees it and I do too!

    I first bought this on audiobook and then bought the ebook for reference. Mike Matthews provides a great overview of nutrition and weigh lifting basics for getting big and lean. I've been working on his plan for 6 weeks and seeing great results already. Very happy with the purchase.

    I started the program outlined in this book about 9 weeks ago, and my training is going very well. I am lifting more weight now then I have at any point of my life - simply amazing! I have always been slender, and at 6-1 I wanted to add some muscle to my 162 lb frame. The program in this book introduced me to diet, supplements, and "loading", and I already have added 15 lbs. I definitely look better at 178 lbs, and have started receiving complements from friends that haven't seen me in a few months. Overall I am extremely happy with my transformation, which has really just begun. I'm sure the program and techniques covered in this book will help me achieve my goal of being an extremely fit and well proportioned physical specimen.

    I'm a health and fitness professional and I came across this book on my continuing search for professional knowledge. This is a great and straight forward approach to getting in the best shape of your life. In an industry filled with misinformation the 'back to basics' methods for losing weight, gaining muscle and getting in the best shape of your life found here is very refreshing. I have already recommended it to several of my clients and began to explore the other titles by this author.

    Mike (author) you did a great job. I just finished your book and it was very impressive. You did a excellent work explaining a very "murky" world of bodybuilding. I was also very impressed that you gave several ways of contacting you for questions. I have to admit, I was stuck doing mindless routines with not great gains. Remember my screen-name. I have a question to ask you about multiple iso-training in one day Again kudos on this great book.

    BLS is a must if you re wanting to get in shape. As a result of his studies And own experiencie, Mike teaches as an expert on how to train and eat. Makes you feel like if he were your own personal trainer. Cant wait to read more of his books
