About the Author

Stan and Jan Berenstain were both born in 1923 in Philadelphia.  They didn't know each other as children, but met later at school, at the Philadelphia College of Art.  They liked each other right away, and found out that the both enjoyed the same kinds of books, plays, music and art.  During World War II, Stan was a medical assistant in the Army, and Jan worked in an airplane factory.  When the war was over, they got married and began to work together as artists and writers, primarily drawing cartoons for popular magazines.  After having their two sons Leo and Michael, the Berenstains decided to write some funny children's books that their children and other children could read and enjoy.  Their first published children's book was called The Big Honey Hunt .  It was about a family of bears, who later became known as the "Berenstain Bears".

Over 50 children's books later, Stan and Jan still plan all of their books together — both write the stories, and both write the pictures.  They live outside of Philadelphia in the country.

My son recorded his voice reading this for his nephew. My grandson loves hearing his uncle read the story - over and over and over!

I loved this book and so does my three-year-old. She loves silly papa bear. The lessons are the same. These are more like easy readers than the later paper back Berenstain stories. Helps early readers learn common words in a fun story.

My 5 year old liked this book pretty well, but it's not one that's going to keep his interest very long. There's a little bit of animation on each page, but very minimal. There are a couple of "activities" like clicking on the bee, which appears at different places on the page; clicking on a particular character on the page; catching drops of honey; etc. The activities would probably be more fun for a 3 or 4 year old child.

Great book. Fun to read. My kids and then my grandkids love it.

This is a great book with humourous pictures. It's fun to see Papa Bear get into 'sticky' situations while looking for honey. Think Clark Griswold. There isn't much of a meaning at the end of the book, just a good book to read and laugh at with your child. It has some good pictures and key words to use word association with.

Excellent book, teaches the lesson that Mom is Always Right. Just kidding. Kind of.

Very cute book. I have alway enjoyed the Berenstain Bear books. And this is no different. The narration of this book is delightful, the only item I really wanted to address is that I did not find this book to be interactive as it states. You can touch the picture and it makes a sound, or papa, brother bears arm will move. For the cost of this book I would of like to see a bit more interaction for my grandson as he loves beging able to watch movement of the entire book come to life. These are classic stories and I will continue to purchase them just not as interactive.
