CHAPTER 1
The Bibleteam and their friends are getting ready for race day at school!
Mason and Sophia are best friends and can't wait to run in the race together.
"Today's big race is a team relay race!" Bibleman says. "Running as a team is just like being friends. You have to work together to win. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says that two are better than one, because if one person falls, their friend can help pick them up!"
"In the Bible, David and Jonathan were the best friends," Biblegirl explains. "In 1 Samuel 18:4, Jonathan gave David his most prized possessions — his robe, his sword, even his belt! When King Saul tried to break up their friendship, they stuck together."
"Enjoy the race, but don't forget about your friends!"
As the kids gather for the race, the Prince of Pride shows up with a glowing trophy.
"Gather around kids. This is the real reason to win today," the Prince announces.
"Forget about having fun. You're racing to win this trophy for the greatest runner of all time!"
All the kids stare at the trophy in awe. "Wow! I have to win that trophy!" says Mason. "Sophia, you just aren't fast enough. Hey, Jackson! You're on my team instead!"
"I thought we were friends!" yells Sophia. "No way you're going to win! I'm faster than you! Zoe, you're with me now. Let's win this!"
The trophy has filled all the kids with self price, making them forget about their friends!
The race is close! All the kids keep their eyes on the trophy, believing that they are the fastest runners.
"Hurry up!" Mason yells to Jackson. "I'm the fastest. I will win!" shouts Sophia.
But as soon as Sophia is handed the baton, she trips and falls. Mason runs right past her!
"Run, Mason, run! The trophy is all yours! Bwahahaha!" the Prince of Pride jeers.
