If you’re looking for a romance that will give you all the tingles and all the feels, look no further! ~ Shayna Renee’s Spicy Reads

Josie doesn’t need any help raising her son.

Pregnant at sixteen, Josie learned the hard way about men and their empty promises. She picked herself up and is raising her eleven-year-old son. By herself. And that’s the way she intends it to stay. Unfortunately, her impressionable boy becomes fascinated by the scruffy, intimidating biker who lives next door.

The scars on Holt’s face are only the most visible of his wounds.

Out of the hospital after being attacked in his own damn house, Holt is coming to terms with the fact that his scars frighten people. Like his now-ex-girlfriend who ran after one look at him. Like his redheaded neighbor who hauled her boy away as if Holt was a serial killer. Fine. He’ll give the pretty bartender all the space she wants.

The Shadowlands will bring them together…

When Josie starts bartending in the exclusive, private club, she discovers her neighbor is a member. And a Master--a skilled powerful Dom who can make her fantasies come true. Slowly, the firefighter breaks down the walls around her heart, teaching her how to trust. How to love...

But when her son’s choices lead to disaster, can their relationship survive?

Another great addition in one of my all time favorite series!! A scar can be left on the skin or on the soul from wounds inflicted. This story takes us on a journey of a man who bares his scars on the outside and a woman who wears hers on the inside. ~ SNS Reviews

So many GREAT things to say about Beneath The Scars that I am trying to slow my mind down for a few minutes so I can make sense of my thoughts. The BDSM is amazing...realistic, a little nerve-wracking, a LOT exciting and will make you HOT in seconds! I enjoyed and LOVED watching the many dynamics between the Doms and subs, Masters and slaves, Sadists and masochists. I feel like with each new Shadowland story I learn something new about the BDSM community that is so very interesting. I SOOOOO like reading a book where I learn something that I have been interested in for, well, ever. Cherise Sinclair is one author that does BDSM to PERFECTION! One of the best things about this book was watching relationships grow and strengthen, not with just with Holt and Josie (although their story made me sigh out loud), but with EVERY single couple so far from the Shadowlands. It is awe-inspiring. Seeing all my favorite characters here and there throughout the book as Josie and Holt work out their relationship made me wonderfully happy. I feel like I know these men and women intimately and personally and I feel close to them all and its something I treasure. Reading the connection, the ups and downs, passion and love between Josie and Holt caused my eyes to mist, my heart to lighten and when I came across the sex scenes, my skin became ULTRA sensitized. My breath started coming in pants and I was so aroused I could barely think. You can't get better sex scenes than the ones Cherise Sinclair writes. They are erotic, sexy as hell, and something I CRAVE. I ADORE these books! I swear, whenever Holt got in Dom mode, I could feel my stomach bottom out and I felt fuzzy in the head and I wanted to obey...BADLY. I can get lost in these Shadowland books again and again and STILL find something new and amazing to love about them. Beneath The Scars is ENERGIZING, SEXY, BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN AND WILL LEAVE YOU PLEASED IN EVERY SINGLE WAY IMAGINABLE! I give this a PERFECT TEN WHOLE SHOOTING STARS!

This was a great story, and while it started out slow for me, when it picked up, I couldn't stop! We have known Holt, he has been around, and played an important role in the last book in the series. He is sweet, kind, understanding, a friend to everyone, and just a little too perfect. He was in looks as well, but being on the sharp edge of a knife attack changed that as well. Not hugely, but his perfect looks are now marred. He appreciates everything about Josie from the moment he meets her, but Holt forgets that not everyone has his sunshine approach to life Josie hasn't had it easy, and being betrayed by the men in her life has left her wary. She internalizes everything, and then discounts it with reason. She tries this with Holt, but he is rather persistent about things. Even when she finally concedes any point, her doubt takes over. Throw in an 11 year old boy, and it definitely ties things up The bad guys in this book, they are emotional and psychologically bad. The BDSM in this book, very light, Josie has no exposure, and is only there because she is working the bar. Catching up with others, well, Anne and Ben have a big thing happen. We also see Marcus and Gabbie, Sam and Linda, Jake and Rainie, and of course Uzuri and her dragons. Raoul and Kim show up at some pivotal points as well, and a glimpse of what is going on with Dan and Kari. Overall, I loved the read, and seeing what was going on in the Shadowlands!

When you read as many books as I do characters, tend to blur together, and even though I may have met them in previous books, they don’t stand out in my mind. That is the issue I had with Holt. He didn’t grab my attention in previous books, but I am always down for the next Master of the Shadowlands book. So I went in blind not remembering what happened to him. But that’s ok because Cherise gives us a great recap that is just perfect, not too much and not too little. Josie has been a single mom since she was 16 and doesn’t trust men. Yet she can’t keep from lusting after her Thor (AKA Chris Hemsworth) like neighbor once she realizes he is a Dom at the Shadowlands where she has been hired as a bartender. Sparks fly when Holt shows Josie that she is a submissive and she can blossom under his dominant hand. Josie’s struggles as a single mom felt all too real and very relatable. I understood her reluctance to let a man into their lives, for fear he may leave and break her son's heart. Also her mistrust of men after what she has been through. Holt, on the other hand, was almost too perfect. I guess that’s part of the fantasy, but at some point, a man is going to stop chasing. But I guess we don’t want our fantasy hero’s flawed it would ruin the fantasy if they sat around with a beer gut scratching their butts and farting. This story was very sweet and a bit on the tamer side in my opinion. I felt it focused a lot on the family dynamic, which I enjoyed. It doesn’t matter to me who the next character Cherise writes about is because the books in this series are always an instant buy. I do have one question, are we going to see this Fantasy series that Josie was writing? I’d buy!

These books are going to get me fired! They are always page turners, my coworkers always know when I'm knee deep in one, they can never find me, hiding in the bathroom reading. Always a page Turner, can't put down. The story lines are always current and relevant. Love them, and miss them when you finish.

323 pages. I've enjoyed all the books I have read by this author. She writes interesting stories, not just sex.

While the BDSM was hot and Holt was even hotter, all the HEA made me nauseous. The Shadowlands Dom's just happened to arrive in time to save the day........ Really? 320 pages. Not her best work.

Loved this book! Once again Cherise has delivered an amazing story of patience, perseverance, friendship and love. Having Z and the others play a large part of this story was amazing! I highly recommend this book, as well as the other Shadowland books if you haven't read them.

I love the Shadowlands! Each story gets better and better, but Cherise Sinclair has outdone herself with Holt and Josie's story. I love Josie's fierce independence and love for her son. Holt 's patience and steadfastness, not to mention his hot looks, make him the perfect hero. The hot sex doesn't hurt either. What a fantastic story. I love catching up with the Shadow land's masters and their Shadowkittens. They feel like old friends.

Beneath the Scars is a Hit. Holt's story was wonderful. I wish there was a bit more of Mistress Anne's delivery & afterward in the hospital. I liked that Holt got to help deliver the baby with Ben and Josie. I really love the way the Shadowlands members are a big family and take care of their own. I wonder whose story will be next? Will it be Mistress Anne's single brother, or the new front desk guard Ghost or maybe Josie's book editor will visit, hmmm? I look forward to the next Shadowland's kitten getting pregnant. It's always fun to see a Hot Dom so possessive of their woman and when she is pregnant, WOW! The Hot Dom is so protective to them. It's too bad these characters aren't real. They would make wonderful, loyal friends. A Loyal Fan.

This series never disappoints and Holt's story is no exception. Holt is still recovering from being attacked by Uzuri's stalker and refuses to leave the duplex where it happened. Josie is a single mom who's raising her son alone with the help of her elderly aunt. When Josie moves into the home next door to her aunt and the hunk right on the other side, sparks fly. Step back into The Shadowlands and get ready to sit for a while, folks. This is one I couldn't put down.

Thank you, Cherise for continuing to bring us wonderful, heartfelt stories of kinky, heroes and heroines who their way to an HEA. In this time where so many authors are jumping on the BDSM wagon in hopes to entice readers to buy their books with their version of kinky it means a lot to me and I'm sure many others that present heart of BDSM. With that being said, I loved Holt and Josie's story. I'm glad he finally found his own HEA. And I'm very excited to read Ghost's story. It's a relief to know you have not run out of characters at the Shadowlands. Happy Reading:)
