A decorated combat pilot returns from Vietnam to begin duties in Research & Development, involving top secret projects in ICBM guidance and spy satellites. His clearances and expertise lead to recruitment by the CIA to gather information at an international symposium in Bonn, to be attended by Western and Soviet scientists and engineers. He gets mixed up with double agents (one a deadly female), moles, and murder, and is even kidnapped, his abductor planning to transport him somehwere in the Eastern Bloc. And he really didn't want to do this in the first place.
