Pet owners beware!

Bad Kitty really needs a bath, and she is forced to take one in this hysterical new illustrated how-to for young readers. The following are some items you will need for Kitty's bath: one bathtub, plenty of water, dry towels, a suit of armor, a letter to your loved ones, clean underwear (because stressful situations can cause "accidents"), an ambulance in your driveway with the engine running, and, oh, yeah, you'll also need Kitty . . . but good luck with that! Kitty is at her worst in this riotous how-to guide filled with bad smells, cautionary tales of horror, and hopefully by the end . . . some soap.

Now’s the hard part.

The bath is ready, but Kitty is not. In fact, Kitty is nowhere to be found.

Is she in her litter box?

Is she under the sofa?*

Is she sitting on her favorite window ledge?

Is she sitting in her favorite chair?

Is she lying in your bed?

So where is Kitty?

Kitty’s very good at hiding. So maybe the best step right now would be to think about where you found her all the other times she hid.

This is where she was hiding when you had to take her to the vet.*

This is where she was hiding when you had to brush her teeth.

This is where she was hiding when you had to give her medicine.

This is where she was hiding when you had to clip her nails.

This is where she was hiding when you told her to finish her vegetables.*

There’s Puppy!

Maybe Puppy knows where Kitty is hiding.

Hey, Puppy . . . Do you know where Kitty is hiding?

Hmmm . . . Maybe he doesn’t know.

Hold on . . . Since when does Puppy have black fur? Puppy has never had black fur. So maybe that isn’t Puppy at all. So who is it really? Hmmm . . .

I'm 9 years old. I thought this book was really funny when I started reading it. One page shows kitty hiding in different spots. Like in sock drawer or underwear drawer. She hides in the chimney on the roof because she didn't want a bath. Of course in the beginning the dog started chasing her around the house and the refrigerator got all messy when they went in there. I liked this book because the kitty has a sense of humor and it was funny, absolutely exciting. Everybody that is 6, 7, 8, and 9, and up and older will love the book.

As a book lover it hurts that I have such a reluctant reader at home! My daughter is 7 and when I tell her it's time to pick up a book and read it's like sending her to be tortured. I picked up this book because of the pictures and also the size of the book. She finished it in one day!! It has pictures which keep her entertained but it's not a baby book and actually makes her read for a little while. I'm on my way after work to pick up the next one in the series.

I purchased this book for my daughter who started reading it in the store. She has not touched any of the other books we purchased that date, but has brought this book down to read me this page or that page several times now. She just used it for a book report. I just read it cover to cover and loved the art. It's a creative and fun story!!!

When I send a package to my granddaughters (2 & 7) who live in Florida, I try to find funny or action-packed books that have wonderful pictures accompanying the story. I always get a "Thank you, Grandma," for the package in general from my just-turned 7-year-old granddaughter, but I don't often hear about specific books or toys she liked. When I talked to her on the phone last week, after she had received yet another package from me for her 7th birthday, she said, "Grandma, I really liked the book about the kitty. I read it all and it was sooo funny!" Then she giggled and she and I had a good laugh because I have a cat who looks very much like Bad Kitty! (I had cut out pictures of my cat and taped them onto some of the pages in place of Bad Kitty's picture.) Even though this book was not in color, the pictures are so expressive that you completely forget that it's black and white. It's hilarious. . . especially if you have a cat as a friend (or whatever)! I have to admit that when I was doing my book-shopping for my granddaughter, I found myself sitting on the floor of Barnes & Noble, trying to quietly read through it. That was completely pointless because I'd turn the page and laugh out loud, turn the page and laugh out loud, covering my mouth each time because I didn't want to disturb others. It's even funny to adults, so I highly recommend this book to ALL age groups. Read it and HAVE FUN!!!!

Bad kitty gets a bath gets a laugh out of myself and my three girls every time we pick it up, the story never gets old (my girls are 16, 16 and 10)! We have a cat that is just like bad kitty and you truly do need all of the items listed in the book when it comes to bath time. I think that is why the book is so funny...we have lived it! Needless to say our "kitty" hasn't had a bath in 10 years, we would all rather live. My husband on occasion will ask about giving the cat a bath and we promptly hand him "bad kitty gets a bath" and wish him luck! (Kitty still hasn't had that bath)

Has to be the best bad kitty book of them all!

The cat really did not like baths in the book. The cat must have been really good at hide and go seek. They mention that you should have an extra pair of underwear when you give a cat a bath.

Hehehehe. A great, funny chapter book with a heavily-illustrated cartoony feel similar to Captain Underpants. A sure thing with readers (reluctant or otherwise) in grades 2-4.

This is a pretty cute, very short chapter book about giving a kitty a bath (lol). It follows the titular "bad kitty" from the previous Bad Kitty picture book - who, after discovering there was no cat food in the house, went on a rampage. This time the owner gives advice about why one might have to give a cat a bath, how to best go about doing that, how the cat will react, and so on. It's generously illustrated in a comicbook style with lots of "splat," "fft," and "meowr" sound effects. It's very short, has a glossary for some of the unfamiliar words, and therefore would be a nice transitional book for early chapter book readers.

These Bad Kitty books is the very first 'chapter books' my dyslexic son will read. He's read these all over and over again and I'm grateful for the thoughtful humor and illistrations of this book. I love the book too! Get them all and laugh, laugh, laugh. It's so good to see my son actually WANT to read a book! These are giving him his first taste of loving to read a book. It's not easy being 9 years old and dyslexic. Thank you Nick Bruel.

I love the Bad Kitty books. Bruel really captures all of the different attitudes of a cat, from being loving one moment to attacking your hand the next.

This is a very funny graphic novel for young readers about how to go about giving your kitty a bath. We learn that kitties hate baths, but how to talk your cat into getting one anyway. The book also contains some interesting facts about cats. This book is so hilarious! I was laughing out loud through the whole thing! A great book for anyone who has a kitty or ever wanted one!Classroom connection: Cats

SummaryIt's time for Bad Kitty to get a bath but Bad Kitty doesn't think she needs a bath because Bad Kitty hates baths! Bad Kitty licks her fur to get clean and to comb her fur. Bad Kitty also describes how much she hates water! You learn you have to find kitty, then protect yourself because kitty will be scratching you when you try to give her a bath, but the big reveal is how to get kitty in the water. You have to tell kitty that after she is done then it is dog's turn to enter in the bath. Personal ReactionI love the Bad Kitty books! My sons have always enjoyed all the chapter books, and we just bought a new one call Bad Kitty meet The Baby! We have always read Bad Kitty books including the alphabet book of Bad Kitty digging in the trash. Classroom Extension ideas1. Bad Kitty is a great book to have in you second and on up classes library in your room. Once again kids love to read these "chapter books" and still see all the fun writings and pictures. 2. Bad Kitty books have true facts in them hidden away. In Bad Kitty Gets a Bath, you learn that Kitty has papillae on her tongue which helps comb her hair and get any loose fur off of her. Then it talks about the our fingernails are made out of papillae. You could use this book with science, when talking about parts of cats.

This is a fun book to read. It's basically a book about a bad cat bathing, and the chaos that ensues during the process. No worries though, the book, although a fun fictional story, provides a plethora of functional information on the process of cat bathing. the only grip I had with this book is the fact that it was such a fun story, yet it had absolutely no color on any of the pages! It really detracts from the story to be honest. Color would have really supported the story in so many ways.

Great idea to mix non-fiction with fiction. It tells how cat's bathe, about fur-balls, and if needed the correct way to bathe a cat. Also included was what happens when a little boy tries to bathe like a cat. The illustrations were really cute and added to the story immensely. Great intro into cats.
