The pictures in this board book are pleasant, and deeply rooted in the north of BC. The words, or lyrics rather, are uncomfortable to read - even after I learned the tune, I thought the words were awkward.

This is a sweet book, beautifully illustrated. The text is actually the lyrics to a children's song, and it was one of my son's favorites, about a young beluga whale and his friends in the cold waters of the Arctic.

This is the ¿Baby Beluga¿ song with words and pictures. The last page has the musical notation.

A book version of Raffi's well-known song. Lovely pictures with many other arctic and sea animals and birds. Recorded on Raffi's children's album of the same name. Good for ages 2 to 7.

I had this book for my children when they were little and they loved it, so I bought it for my grandchildren and they love it too. I highly recommend you get the music to the words so you can sing along in the book. A timeless book for little ones.

When I first got this book I hadn't heard of the song by Raffi. My son liked fish and this book had sweet illustrations so we bought it. We read it many times, and one day at the Long BEach Aquarium we heard a mom singing it to her daughter. I found the song online and we have been singing this song to each other ever since. The words are very catchy and the melody is too. It's a tender story of a little beluga whale swimming and playing in the sea with friends and mother. This was one of my son's favorite books from the age of 1 to 4. He still has it and doesn't want to pass it on to someone else yet. It's a book I buy for anyone about to have a baby.

This book reads just like the "Baby Beluga" children's song by Artist Raffi. The story gives a sense of fun and adventure with one's friends during the day and the love and warmth of one's family at night. The story is very short and easily memorable, and is perfect for a bedtime story and/or song. Especially for new parents who don't know any children's songs. Baby Beluga whale and her friends have fun swimming about the ocean, singing songs and making friends. At the end of the fun filled day, everyone settles down with their families for nighttime sleep. Artistic depictions of the young, artic sea creatures and their families are a perfect fit for the gentle tone of the book. It's a must have for any family which likes to sing/read books at bedtime.

This is one of my favorite Raffi songs, so I highly advise buying the CD to go with it. It is definitely a sing aloud, not a read aloud. As a kindergarten teacher and mom, I can assure you that children love both the song and the book. I love that this is available in a board book. I recommend board books for children up to 3 years old and maybe even older because they can take lots of abuse!

I bought this book as a birthday present for my Mom. I am 18 and have just finished my first year of college and I know she thinks that I'm growing up much too quickly- so I thought I'd get her something from my childhood. Storytime was always special for my mom and me- our "mother daughter time"- and Baby Beluga was our favorite. We would sing along with the book and a Raffi tape my mom got through my pre-school when I was around four. Somewhere through a move the book was misplaced as well as the tape, so when I saw this on B&, I knew it was perfect to cheer my mom up and remind her that I'm still her little girl :) It is a great bonding tool for any parent and child, and is one of my best childhood memories

Baby Beluga, by Raffi May 17, 2002 ¿Baby Beluga¿ tells the story of a little Beluga Whales daily adventures in the ¿deep blue sea.¿ The beautiful illustrations and charming story captured my attention instantly. Not familiar with Raffi, and his music, I was unaware of the popularity of the song, by the same title, until noticing the back cover, where it is mentioned. I have since purchased the CD, and CAN NO LONGER read this book; I have to SING it! ¿Baby Beluga in the deep blue sea, swim so wild and you swim so free. Heaven above and the sea below, and a little white whale on the go.¿ The editorial comments regarding Ashley Wolff¿s illustrations are harsh. As an artist, I regard the work to be first-rate! The mostly analogous color palette (ocean blues and greens) is bright and true to life, while the expressions are communicative and warm. Perhaps, a little more contrast between the Beluga Whales and the sea is in order, but that is a personal preference. Besides, compared to ANY of the severely cold computer-generated images available in books today, the illustrations in this book are superior. ¿Baby Beluga¿ is a delightful book independently, although, combined with the music; it is IRRESISTIBLE! One-year and up.

It's about Baby Beluga and I really like it because it's a pretty neat book and I like looking at it. I really really like it because I like the pictures and I can read it when I sing the song.
