Overview

Arthur's new puppy causes problems when it tears the living room apart, wets on everything, and refuses to wear a leash.

Arthur is thrilled when he gets a new puppy. He's had a lot of experience with pets so he knows they're as much work as they are fun.

Even so, when Pal tears the living room apart, wets on everything, and refuses to wear his leash, Arthur gets worried. His parents are unhappy with Pal's behavior and even D.W. seems ready to banish the boisterous puppy to the garage. What if Arthur can't control Pal-and Pal gets sent away to live on a farm?

Readers of all ages will laugh out loud as they follow Pal's progress from mischievious scamp to dog show material under the loving guidance of his owner, Arthur.

Here are some reasons that I like Arthur’s New Puppy, and I really enjoyed reading it! First, I like when Pal takes the leash because it’s super funny and good. Next, I love when Pal destroys the living room because it is hilarious! Last, I love when he finds the key because it is helpful. I think this book is funny, and I hope you enjoy it! Daniel, age 7

This book is a great way to show children how important it is to be responsible when you have an animal. Arthur gets a new puppy and he did not realize how much hard work it would really be. After forgetting to shut the gate the puppy messes the whole house up. You could work on vocabulary words with 3rd graders on this book.

Arthur just got a new puppy named Pal. Pal is a trouble maker and is too much to train. Pal destroys everything in the house and is about to have to move to the garage. Arthur hears stories at school about how some dogs got sent away for being bad. He does not want to send Pal away. Arthur spends time with Pal and teaches him trickes. His parents are so impressed and Arthur knows that Pal is not going anywhere. I think this book would be a good read aloud for kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade.

Well everyone loves Arthur's dog, Pal, well here is the story of how Arthur got him. Pal was a mischievous little puppy, but Arthur trains him to be a great family dog. This is a good book to read to students about responsibility.

Here are several reasons I like Arthur’s New Puppy. First, I like when Pal, the puppy got in trouble when he messed up the house because it impressed me. Next, I love that Pal was hard to train because he peed on the carpet. Last, I like when he stole the leash and ran off with it because he didn’t want to go on a walk. I like Arthur’s New Puppy! Michael, age 7

I think you should read this book because if you ever had a puppy you love it a lot. The book was about Arthur getting a new puppie. Arthur needed to know how to take care of it.
