It is always fascinating to see how Hayao Miyazaki does his initial sketches of his movie characters and how they evolved eventually... One of the changes which readers would notice is that initally there is only one child in the story. But in the process, the Director decided to add in another character, the elder sister. It's interesting to note the nifty gritty details and research that Miyazaki put in for different landscape backgrounds. Although the comments were in Japanese only and I can't understand half of the time, pictures speaks a thousand words. The Art of Totoro is truly a treasure for people who love his works.

Very few animated films show so much tenderness as My Neighbor Totoro. And witness it's creators mastery it's a privilege that cheerfuly only costs a few bucks. Don't be deceived, for as you turn every page, one come to realize that the watercolors, the production sketches, the intention on every painting, every illustration, becomes a priceless experience. I work in illustration business, and I've learned more form this book than all my years of schollarship. Excuse me if my english isn't very accurate. Im working on it.
