For anyone who considers themselves a true fan of mystery/crime fiction, Arsene Lupin is not to be missed. Lupin was France's answer to the phenomenal success Sherlock Holmes had been seeing. While both men are exceedingly intelligent and quick witted, Arsene throws in certain debonair qualities that Holmes lacks. Lupin is part Robin Hood and part James Bond. Leblanc's writing style is very accessible for an author of his time period. The plots and capers are never so obvious as to be cliche and the tone is set extremely well by Arsene's friend and narrator. If you are a true fan of the classics of caper fiction and criminal genius then Arsene Lupin is your man.

A wonderful read. I loved this book from beginning to end and am eager to read the rest of the Lupin series. It's like Sherlock Holmes, only much more dramatic and flashier. I would definately recommend Arsene Lupin to anyone who loves a really clever mystery.
