Not the best...okay

Ok story. Guy seemed a tad too forward, which I guess is needed to have a sober one night stand, lol. The lady seemed a little too much of a doormat, but given her past, it works out. Not a bad read over all. Clean, tidy, not very complicated, rather predictable, just wish we found out who the father is...maybe she is saving for the next book.

This was a well written book with a great HEA. I love how the author used the freedoms that a widow could enjoy to start the book. I cannot wait to read the stories for the rest of the characters. I am also glad that I did not come across a lot of grammatical errors like I have in other ebooks and it did not end on a cliffhanger.

Really enjoyed this romantic tale

Jess Michaels wasn't willing to write a plausinle beginning to her story. She had Widow Wilde in bed with Mr. Davenport as strangers within hours of first meeting. In a day when morality was restrictive, and her life even more confining by the narrowed boundaries set by her cruel grandfather, Ms. Michaels had her heroine lose all control of herself to sleep with a complete stranger!!! Of course, the only thing to do was to bring back that stranger in such an obvious fashion that there was no feeling of suspense. Ms. Michaels' storyline was too easy to predict. There were no surprises in any of the storylines. My only moment of cheer fdealt with Rosalinde's grandfather. Instead of tying to make pretend she was writing a book, Ms. Wilde should have posted this as erotica. Like "R" rated movies, it takes little time for people to meet, and almost immediately start shagging strangers. The only difference is Ms. Wilde calls it love. If you aren't all that concerned about an interesting cast with well developed storylines, you may enjoy reading this book. If you are more picky about who share intimacies with, you may want to skip this book.

I LOVED Grayson and Rosalind's story!! Having met at an inn, being instantly attracted to each other, and then spending the night together, Grayson and Rosalind are surprised to find each other at the same destination. What was supposed to be a one night event and never seeing the other again, turns into possibly being related through the marriage of their siblings. With Rosalind trying to help the happy couple and Grayson trying to split them up, we end up will all kids of antics!! This was a great start to a new series and I'm excited to read the next one!

An Affair In Winter is an awesome historical romance by Jess Michaels. Ms. Michaels has given readers a well-written book. The characters are outstanding. Rosalinde married to get away from her abusive grandfather only to have to return when her husband dies. He hates her and makes her travel with servants to her sister's wedding. Gray meets Rosalinde at a tavern where they are both taking shelter from a snowstorm. Gray and Rosalinde's story is loaded with drama, humor, smokin' hot sex, and a little action and suspense. I enjoyed reading An Affair In Winter and look forward to my next book by Jess Michaels. An Affair in Winter is book 1 of the Seasons Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Great Read! I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved the intensity between these two characters. Rosalinde gets caught in a snowstorm while travelling to help with her sister’s wedding. She meets Gray at the inn and the attraction between them is steaming and they decide to share a passionate night together, however fate has more in store for them. Loved it and so looking forward to more in this series.

An Affair in Winter (Seasons Book 1) by Jess Michaels is a fantastic Erotic Historical Romance set in Regency England. A wedding, sexual distraction, impending nuptials, a possible disruption of a wedding, what a combination! Oh did I mention a snowstorm, and a night in an inn? Meet, Widow Rosalinde Wilde, sister to the bride and Grayson Danford, brother to the groom. Neither know who the other one is, when they meet in the inn. But they find in instant connection, and sparks fly, true and passionate. When they once again meet, what a shock! Will Grayson win in his desire to stop his brother from making a terrible mistake or will he lose his own heart in the process? Will Grayson and Rosalinde, become enemies or will they finally find their HEA? Well written, with a cast of entertaining and enticing characters. A storyline, while not entirely unique, has a uniqueness about it that captures the reader. A captivating tale, with more than passion, and sensuality involved. An emotional tale, where the reader will smile, cry, want to slap someone, basically, a wide range of emotions. As the story unravels, the truth is revealed, as to the why and why nots, these two siblings, should not wed, each other. Once again, Ms Michaels had written a story that is captivating, charming, mesmerizing and passionate. An epic Erotic Historical Romance. Fans of Erotic Romance, with delicious, sinful characters, a fascinating, and scintillating story, will definitely enjoy "An Affair in Winter". Simply Scandalous and sizzling! Another hit for Ms. Michaels. She writes powerful stories where readers connect with her characters using intrigue and the brillance of a masterful storyteller. A must read! For myself, I can't wait for the next tantalizing installment in the "Seasons" series. *Be forwarned: This is a hot and steamy story! If you do not enjoy sensual interludes, that are hot and steamy, than "An Affair in Winter", may not be a story you will enjoy.* I would highly recommend this Erotic Romance! 1810 Rosalinde Wilde is a widow and is heading through a snowstorm to the estate of the Earl of Stenfax at Caraway Court. There, she will be attending the wedding of her sister, Celia, to the Earl. However, the weather has become so bad from an early in the season snowstorm that they are forced to spend the night at an inn. As always, Rosalinde is afraid that her grandfather will be quite angry if she doesn't arrive as scheduled. Her grandfather, Mr. Fitzgilbert, is a wealthy man who has always treated Rosalinde badly due to what he calls her poor choices. Upon arrival at the Raven’s Wing Tavern, Rosalinde finds the Inn crowded with other stranded travelers. Thus, she is forced to share a dining table with a man who introduces himself only as Gray. At first skeptical of him, she soon relaxes as he appears to be a true gentleman. Their evening of chatting turns into a night of passion. When she leaves the next morning, she is certain she will never see the man again but will have the memory of a wonderful night making love. This was something missing in her marriage. Finally arriving at Caraway Court, she discovers that the Earl’s brother has arrived as well and she hears that he does not care for Celia as he thinks she is only interested in his brother’s title. The marriage is truly not a love match for the Earl needs the money that her grandfather sends to the marriage and she needs his title. This has come about as part of an agreement with their evil, controlling grandfather to tell Celia and Rosalinde about their deceased parents. When Rosalinde meets the Earl’s family, she finds that the Earl’s brother is none other than Lord Grayson, a.k.a., Gray! This is a shock to both of them. How will they handle the situation? Can there be a future for happiness in the marriage between Celia and Stenfax? I liked this novel and found the characters to be well-written. There is certainly a lot of food for thought here as well. Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley

As a long time fan of Jess Michaels books I knew I wouldn't be disappointed in this story. To be quite honest, I bought it knowing nothing about the story at all! Well, I was right! I've been pulled, even though I wasn't fighting the pull at all lol, into another great series. Great characters, solid story and a wish for the next in the series to come out quickly. I'm not going to re write what the story is about because if you've taken the time to scroll down to the reviews you probably have already read the basic premise of the story above. What follows is my somewhat rambling, apologies in advance, opinion of the story with no spoilers! In An Affair In Winter we first meet widow Mrs. Rosalinde Wilde, sister to Celia Fitzgilbert who is marrying Lucien Danford, Earl of Stenfax. On the way to the wedding she is stranded at an Inn do to a storm, which is where we meet Grayson Danford, brother to the Earl and who is determined to save his brother from a title grasping miss ( the afore mentioned Celia!). Still with me? Before the two realize who the other is sparks fly....and if you've read a Jess Michaels book before then you know the sparks are bound to be hot and steamy. If you haven't had the pleasure of reading a novel of hers then I suggest you start with this one :) you're in for a treat *wink wink* But as I said before no spoilers, you'll have to find out on your own just how 'sparky' these two get. An Affair In Winter is as perfect a Book 1 in a series as you can get. You meet almost all the characters that will form the future books in the series, at least that is what I'm assuming. You are given just the right amount of information on each of their backstories to make you want to get to know them and hear their stories. Jess Michaels is very good at character development, which is one of the reasons she is one of my favorite authors. None of this, however, detracts from the main story of Gray and Rosalinde, which is fantastic. This story has everything that, to me at least, makes a 5 Star book. Throw in an evil grandfather, a dark family secret (or two!) and the hot and steamy....did I mention the hot and steamy? and Ms. Michaels has herself a winner. Although we are the actual winners because we are the ones who get to read it! I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good story with lots of excitement. Much to my happiness I won't have to wait long for Book 2 in the Seasons series. I did my little happy dance when I read that A Spring Deception comes out in September 2016 YAY!! All I can say is keep them coming Jess Michaels.

I love Jess Mickaels! I love the fact that I know when I pick up her books that I'm going to love them. This book did not disappoint! Lord "Gray" Grayson and Rosalinde "Mrs. Wilde" Fitzgilbert have both been through hell. After watching both his brother and sister almost loss their lives because of marriage Gray wants no part of that. Gray has vowed never to fall for a woman. Rosalinde and her sister were raised by their mean spirited, vile controlling and manipulative grandfather. Who never had a kind word or action. On the way home in hopes to stop his brothers wedding, Gray is stranded for the night at an Inn due to a snowstorm. In walks the mysterious and breathtaking widow, Mrs. Wilde. Instantly drawn to each other the share a meal and a night of passion that they've never known before. Knowing they will never meet again they part ways in the wee hours of the morning and head to their final destinations. Little did they know they would meet again they next morning to celebrate the wedding of their siblings. The marriage that Gray's vowed to stop and Rosalinde vows will take place. Sparks will fly. Undeniable passion unfolds. Secrets are revealed.

An Affair in Winter is an epic love story. A passion shrouded in secrecy, a wedding arranged by a spiteful, scheming, power hungry man and the hidden secrets he holds within his grasp lead to explosive revelations. Ms. Michaels has crafted a love story that mixes spice with emotion. Like a jigsaw, piece by piece she reveals more about the driving force behind each character. Rosalinde was a person who wanted to be loved and not treated like a means to an end. Her entire existence was center around the charity of her grandfather and his bitterness toward Rosalinde and her sister (who was the only bright spot in a heartbreaking existence). When her sister is forced into an arranged engagement and marriage to appease a vindictive old man, Rosalinde will risk her virtue, heart and well being to make sure her sister finds the happiness she deserves. Grayson is the brother of the groom, Rosalinde, the sister of the bride. A chance meeting, a secret affair and conflicting opinions make for a tempestuous romance filled with unforgettable moments that are as bewitching as they are heartbreaking. My favorite Jess Michaels story to date.
