Returned this book because the info is about 10 yrs out of date. I should have checked the publication date.

Thank you, AHA, for providing guidance in preparing tasty low-fat recipes, proving once again that low-fat does not mean bland food. In-depth information is found throughout the cookbook, including information ways to improve diet to lower cholesterol, and how to read and beware of nutritional labeling on prepared foods. Each recipe is presented in an easy-to-read manner, using everyday ingredients. Many recipes include cook's tips and/or variations. Using this cookbook, in conjunction with AHA's Low-Fat, Low-Cholesterol Cookbook, will ease the transition to healthier eating.

I read good things about this book, but I'm sorely disappointed. First of all, the impression that these recipes can be prepared in just minutes is quite misleading. Many of the recipes (particularly those with poultry) have pre-cooked, pre-cubed meats listed in the ingredients. If I don't happen to have a cup of cubed cooked chicken sitting around somewhere, I'm adding an extra 10 minutes to my prep time. I also found a problem with the casserole style recipes. In several cases, the amount of ingredients was simply too much to fit in the size of dish that the recipe required. The result was casserole that overflowed from the dish and took much longer to cook that than specified in the recipe. I could probably excuse the aforementioned problems if the final results had been tasty and satisfying. That was not, however, the case. Most of the recipes were quite lacking in flavor and even doubling the seasoning left something to be desired. My husband has asked me never to use this cook book again.

I love this book even more than American Heart Association Quick and Easy Cookbook: More than 200 Healthful Recipes You Can Make in Minutes (see my review under that title also). The meals are quick, easy, and tasty as promised. Also, they are easy to use on the Weight Watchers plan. I still wish they would make a spiral bound version so they would lie flat, and that is why I give four instead of five stars.

This book has a lot of good and easy receipes. I love the Chicken Ench with Sour Cream and so does my family. I have tried a lot of other receipes and I am very happy. And what makes it nice about cooking meals from this book is that my family loves the meals.
