I received the American Heart Association Go Fresh cookbook, its an awesome cookbook especially if you eat strictly healthy meals. The recipes are delicious and super easy to make, I bought this cookbook because I’m getting gastric bypass and wanted to have healthful recipes that tasted good and were simple, this cookbook filled all the things on my list. All the recipes I can eat with my surgery, so if you are a bypass patient I really recommend you have this cookbook on hand. The recipes are so flavorful and taste so good you forget they are healthy, they don’t like the quality that other healthy cookbooks do. With these meals you don’t feel like you are giving anything up and you always feel full, I love that because some healthy recipes you are still hungry after you have ate because it is not enough but these recipes leave you feeling full and satisfied. Where do I start? Go Fresh by the American Heart Association will inspire ANYONE to want to eat healthy! I have never seen a more healthy cookbook in my life; I definitely give the American Heart Association a round of applause for this one! I love the cover, all the bright colors definitely got my attention. The food on the front just looks so fresh, vibrant and delicious! This cookbook has 250 recipes that anyone can achieve at home. I love all the shopping and storage tips they feature in the book, it can really be helpful. The back cover has three small thumbnail pictures as well as some of the recipes that can be found inside. As all the other cookbooks I have been recently reviewing, this one also features different sections; each food has its own section. As I’ve stated before, this saves you a lot of time when you are looking for a specific recipe. I didn’t like the fact the cookbook didn’t have a lot of photographs. I love when a cookbook has tons of photographs, I just think it gives you an idea of what the food is supposed to look like and not only that, it gives you an idea if you would like it or not. I had to imagine what it may look like on a lot of the recipes. One of the recipes I am very anxious to try is Sauteed Zucchini with Parmesan, it is super healthy for you, coming in at 59 calories and 3 grams of fat. How do I know that you may ask? This book features ALL the nutritional facts about all the food. That is a huge plus for me; enough to make me look over the lack of photographs. I also didn’t like that Go Fresh was a paperback. I don’t dislike it enough to not like it or want it but I would have preferred if the Association would have made this a hardcover. However, if you are looking for a good healthy cookbook and can look over the paperback (if you do not like them) and lack of photographs, this is the book for you! I also wanted to mention this would be an awesome cookbook for Gastric Bypass, Sleeve and Lap Band patients, there is a lot of things you would find interesting and appealing if you’ve had this surgery. Overall, this is a wonderful cookbook and all the fitness guru’s need to have this as apart of their collection!
