England & Scotland, 1668: Kendra Chase's brothers are telling her it's high time she get married. While this (as all of Lauren Royal's books are) is a standalone story, you will want to read the entire series--they are all that good! Chase sister Kendra refuses to accept marriage to any of the young swains her brother suggests. However, when she is discovered in an apparently compromising position with the man known as the Black Highwayman, she is coerced into marrying the virtual stranger, unaware that he is well known to her brothers as Patrick "Trick" Caldwell, the wealthy Duke of Amberley. Although Trick can't divulge his secrets (after all a promise to a sovereign MUST be kept!), he finally learns to trust Kendra and ultimately, to love her. Ms. Royal's heroines are always strong, intelligent and lovable! And she manages to make the book sensual without tipping over into sleaze, as so many "romance" novels do! Excellent addition to the Chase family saga.

This series is excellent. You must read all to understand the background in this family. This particular book is about Kendra Chase, sister to the three Chase brothers, Jason, Colin and Ford, who said she did not marry a duke. There is a trip to Scotland which is very interesting. This author brings in historical details of the 1600's which I liked.

This is a quick notice before the story begins: ALL of this is true. This takes place in the real SunClan in June-July. This was when Sunclan was at 'Esyay'. To give you proof this is true, I was one of the main kit's friends. I was Lilykit. Now, let's begin.
It was a sunny day, and three kits were playing in a meadow in the famous Sunclan. The most popular clan in that time was full with warriors, kits, apps, and elders. A kit stayed behind, watching them with intense piercing blue eyes. She took note of the kits, Charkit, Amberkit, and Ashkit, who were playing with a mossball and giggling.
She kept an eye on the one playing on the right. She knew it was Amberkit. The kit, quickly padded over to the playing trio.
"C-Can I play?" The kit asked, flicking her tail.
Charkit stopped the ball, which was under her paw. "Sure." He shrugged, turning to Ashkit and Amberkit.
Amberkit nodded. "Yeah! Come join us!" Ashkit turned to the kit and shrugged.
"Thanks." The kit nodded.
"So, what's your name?" Charkit asked, kicking the mossball to Ashkit.
"Lilykit." She said, watching the ball roll to Ashkit.
Ashkit caught the ball, passing it to Amberkit. "I'm Ashkit." She said.
"Amberkit." The kit said, passing the ball to Lilykit.
"Charkit." Charkit said, watching the ball tumble to Lilykit.
"Cool." Lilykit mumbled, passing the ball to Charkit.
Charkit passed it to Amberkit, and then to Ashkit, and then back to Lilykit. And then she passed it to Charkit, and so on.
They all stopped when they heard angered screeches from the deputy of Sunclan and another kit named Sagekit. They were 'fighting', Lilykit thought. Amberkit, Charkit, and Ashkit looked up at them. It was going to be a long day.
Three days later, Lilykit was sitting under a tree. She looked around for her three new friends, silently.
She saw Amberkit, ready to go to her. But before she could do that, she saw others.
NEXT PART LATER!
