Overview

Alaska is supposed to be cold, so why is Alanna Cormac on fire? Sent on a dream assignment to Denali National Park, nature magazine writer Alanna Cormac has no intentions of falling in love with Dale Ramsden, sexy Iditarod winner. When Dale, his family, and even his eighteen sled dogs charm their way into her heart, however, Alanna's fast-track New York instincts crumble. The Alaskan landscape and the caress of a man too good to be true ignite feelings she never had time to explore before. Feelings that have her so blissfully busy she's unaware she's being watched. Judged. Targeted. She's next. Love will either save her or swallow her whole. Is there a difference?

Charming characters, loveable animals, and a setting that is practically a character itself. This story is a tribute to a gorgeous location but doesn't sacrifice plot or character along the way. Highly enjoyable read!

This was a "nice" book - mainly romance with a little mystery. Alanna goes to Alaska to write an article for the nature magazine she works for. During the 2 weeks she is there, she falls in love and encounters a serial killer, and still manages to write her magazine article. While being a good story, I think it needed a little more suspense - it seemed the entire murder-mystery component was all contained in just a few pages.

I was contacted by the author, Christine DePetrillo to read her book, Alaska Heart. After reading the synopsis, I quickly agreed! I am so glad I had the opportunity to read Dale and Alanna¿s story. I could not put this book down. I found myself wrapped within the pages of Alaska Heart. Alanna is a single woman living in New York working at a nature magazine while Dale lives in Alaska as a dog sledder. Alanna loves her life in New York and seems satisfied with what she has accomplished in life. She has found a friendship and a little crush with Dale whom she ¿met¿ online about a year ago. Dale invites her to visit him in Alaska and she is hesitant, but she receives the opportunity through her job. She is sent to Alaska to write an article on Denali National Park. Once there, she and Dale meet face to face and are instantly attracted to one another. She meets his father, his friends, and his sister and her family soon after. Alanna and Dale quickly fall in love with each other and she finds herself fitting in with his family and friends just perfectly. Knowing she only has two weeks in Alaska tears at her heart. Alanna and Dale both know their relationship is on a deadline, so they make the most of their time together. I love romance and this is the first book that made me cry! Alaska Heart also includes mystery and suspense mixed in. I hope there will be a sequel to Alaska Heart because I fell in love with every character, even the dogs!

Allana Cormac just may have been given the chance of a lifetime. It may be a boost for her career as a writer for a nature magazine and it may just break her Alaska Heart. Dale Ramsden just won the Iditarod, what's next, is he going to Disney Land? No, he's hoping for something more corporeal than that, he's hoping for a certain magazine writer to show up and steal his Alaska Heart. Ms. De Petrillo definitely has a wonderful way with words and she shows her audience that talent by her fresh faced look at a time honored romance tradition of boy meets girl. She does this with witty dialogue full of comedy and tragedy. And her narrative will transport her readers deep into the majestic, panoramic natural beauty of Alaska, complete with all the pleasures and hazards of the wilderness. Her characters are all well developed and interesting enough to each launch their own story from what you learn about them in this one. Her hero, Dale, and heroine, Allana, are two opposites that attract like a mega-magnet, and we will see the sparks fly at the very first meeting. The romance is fast paced and yet the pre-knowledge of each other makes the haste of the relationship very believable to her readers. The love scenes are spicy hot and put the romance on the sizzle burner. And yet with each encounter we can't help but feel the intensity and honesty of the feelings this couple has for each other. All in all this novel made one thing very clear to me, it made me want to visit the last frontier we call Alaska. Ms. De Petrillo made the places and people come alive for me so much that I can't wait to buy tickets. So if you're in the mood for a cozy fire, a cup of cocoa and a hot romance, you don't need to go any further than Alaska Heart. Originally posted at The Long and Short of It Romance Reviews
