This is the most recent volume in an ongoing series that examines a range of contemporary topics in child clinical psychology. This volume includes nine chapters covering diverse issues (e.g., family therapy for adolescent substance abuse, primary prevention in the schools, behavior problems in preschool children, neuropsychological bases of childhood disorders, children of gay and lesbian parents). Each chapter focuses on new advances in child clinical psychology, reviews current literature, and offers suggestions for future research. This volume is designed to ""identify important and exciting new developments in the field and provide scholarly and in-depth reviews of current thought and practices"" by leaders in the field. The authors accomplish these important and noteworthy objectives. This book will be of particular interest to child psychologists, graduate students, and those interested in keeping up-to-date with new developments in the field. Clinicians may be interested in the detailed descriptions of particular interventions and the presentation of outcome data. Contributors represent different disciplines and are of very high caliber. The detailed and well-organized chapters contain multiple headings for easy reading. Some chapters include tables and figures to supplement the text. The reference lists are comprehensive, and most citations are from the 1980s and 1990s. Subject and author indexes are provided. This is the newest volume in an excellent series of informative and thought-provoking works.
