Overview

#1 NEW YORK TIMES AND #1 WALL STREET JOURNAL BESTSELLER

An unprecedented behind-the-scenes portrait of the Trump presidency from the anonymous senior official whose first words of warning about the president rocked the nation's capital.

On September 5, 2018, the New York Times published a bombshell essay and took the rare step of granting its writer anonymity. Described only as "a senior official in the Trump administration," the author provided eyewitness insight into White House chaos, administration instability, and the people working to keep Donald Trump's reckless impulses in check.

With the 2020 election on the horizon, Anonymous is speaking out once again. In this book, the original author pulls back the curtain even further, offering a first-of-its-kind look at the president and his record — a must-read before Election Day. It will surprise and challenge both Democrats and Republicans, motivate them to consider how we judge our nation's leaders, and illuminate the consequences of re-electing a commander in chief unfit for the role.

This book is a sobering assessment of the man in the Oval Office and a warning about something even more important — who we are as a people.

Absolutely frightening.

Great book if you really want to know what’s happening in the White House from a person that is totally unstable. The person we call president Chump i mean president Trump.

If ever there were a reason to vote, the content of this book is it.

Great insight on the goings-on in the White House, and the most corrupt president in our lifetime. Highly informative.

If the reader hasn't read detailed accounts of Trump's administration, this book is a good overall read. If you're pretty up to date on Trump, then you'll only get a few more bits of information to deepen your understanding...and alarm. That said, it could have been better and much more powerful if the author has given more examples rather that just conclusions and overall descriptions. Even though the author would have had to edit examples in order to conceal classified information and/or his identity, more concrete examples would have hit their mark. For example, there is a world of difference from describing Trump as someone who can't "synthesize" information (dementia BTW) to showing what this means and how it plays out. I hope the second edition adds more examples. Secondly, as a life long Independent, I prefer a balanced view of the issues and in this the author falls short and reverts to partisan, GOP one liners. For example, he says that the Trump tax cut 'put money into the pockets of every day Americans." Really? The data doesn't support this since some did better, but a swath of the middle class actually paid more. I know several small business owners and professionals who paid more. (One was told by their account that 20% paid more and they paid 10% more in both business and personal taxes.) The wealthy and corporations are who benefited from the tax cut, and corps, rarely reinvested. Also, the author touts Trump's regulation cuts as if this has been an across-the-board boon for the country. Really? The regulatory roll-backs have actually helped only certain donor companies make more money, and even imperiled the environment. So, Anonymous, if nothing else, follow Fox's supposed "Fair and Balanced" approach rather than including these simple-minded partisan conclusion. Also, on page 125 of digital book, the author states that Democrats had "uncontrollable anger" and only wanted to get Trump out of office, etc. Really? Uncontrollable anger? More like a deepening fear and alarm from what I've seen and heard from Democrats (and Independents). But perhaps more importantly, does this characterization actually help the narrative and advance bi-partisan cooperation in the face of a toxic and corrupt president? All of these issues could have been easily picked out by seasoned editor who would have/should have helped the author correct or improve his storytelling. And this would have helped the country realize to a greater degree Anonymous's Warning..

VERY scary, but admirably written book, even if it did come from a know republiCON. Should have been entitled, "It's WORSE than you ever thought!" Sure, the IMPOSTER in the White House got in ILLEGALLY, as did shrub, but things are far worse for everyone.

If you have been paying attention, you will have heard of many of the incidents described in this book and can skip this read. It will be eye-opening, though, for those who have not been keeping track and would like to know more about the doings of the Oval Office. Anyone reading this book will be horrified by Trump's lack of knowledge and respect for the rule of law and the constitutionally mandated structures and functions of our government. The metaphor for Trump's "leadership" put forth by the author is that of a kid pushing random buttons in an air traffic control tower as planes careen and collide on the runway. The reports of Trump's mayhem are all the more compelling coming from this writer, who is obviously committed to Republican party goals. I don't buy his assertion, though, that he and others who joined the administration could not foresee this outcome. Trump’s lack of character has been on public display since the 80’s and people don’t change in old age.

I purchased a digital copy of this book and it hasn't said anything that hasn't been said in the media already. The author clearly doesn't like Trump and that's fine but bring something besides the vitriol. In Chapter 2, the author writes, "Both of President Trump’s predecessors, Bush and Obama, were voracious readers," when clearly, media and others like this author called Bush Dumb. Let's not forget that Trump has a degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, which is an Ivy League school, so to say he is not smart is reaching. He does have an unorthodox way of doing things, but that's not a reason to dismiss his work. The author and this book is just another way to print out negative reasons about this person that already 99.9% of the media is already doing. The fact that he hides his name, just suggest that this person is not willing to stamp his name on a book he wrote, which in my opinion is afraid to stand by his words.

Typical liberal ranting in left wing fashion. Obviously the author doesn't want to be questioned or even supply any evidence as to credibility by writing this propaganda anonymously. Timing of this book is suspect and the coward who wrote it should be ashamed. Oh wait, its a liberal, no shame for this loser.

Really poor fiction. Now we know why they did not want to put their name on it.
