I know, I know, I am a little behind on reading Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed Series. In my defense, I really had no idea what I was missing. A couple of friends of mine recommended I read this book to get started on the series, and well, now I am hooked. There is a benefit to being behind on a series – I have several more that are already published that I can get my hands on. I can’t wait for more! In A Touch of Midnight, we get to read Gideon and Savannah’s story, and it was a bit of an introduction for me to the entire series. This is my first Lara Adrian book and I learned that I really enjoy her writing. The emotions from both Gideon and Savannah were expressed very well, the romance between the two was passionate, but not overly detailed, and the story itself was well balanced. I really enjoyed Gideon and Savannah. I admired their intelligence, strength and sensuality. While I always like a hero that can physically kick some butt, I like it when they can also use their brain to communicate. Gideon was this type of hero for me. Savannah is no slouch, either, as she is very wise beyond her years and to me that made her and Gideon a great fit. They balance each other even given their obvious differences (vampire vs human). I have read other vampire stories in the past and I find it fascinating how each author puts their own spin on this particular type of story. Paranormal romance is not my first go-to genre, so I tend to be a little pickier than most when reading it. This one was really good, though. If you are looking for a quick paranormal romance read, I highly recommend you give A Touch of Midnight a try. I certainly look forward to the rest of the series.

So I did enjoy this novella; however, I felt like the love aspect of Gideon and Savannahs relationship was rushed. With that being said I understand it because it is just a novella?! So it is what it is, but it was a good read.

Gideon's & Savannah's story is a must read. I am a fan of Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series. It's a wonderful story & shows us how Gideon became the Orders' computer guru & how he ended up wearing his famous sunshades.

He was a warrior.  Fighting for his kind and without their knowledge, mankind also.  He was one of a few but together they were all they had.  Each with a special skill that compliments each other.  His heart was hardened by a past experience taking loved ones from him.  She wanted her freedom to be who she wanted to be.  But she add a gift that allowed her to see the past.  She unknowingly saw his past and his pain without even knowing him.  And then they met by his design.  What would you give up for your fated mate, the love of your life, and the other half of your soul?  Well did you really expect me to tell you.  Read A Touch of Midnight and find out what Lara Adrian has in store for Gideon and Savannah.

I would have given it five stars if the story did not feel so rushed at the end. But, it did not take away from this authors wonderful writing skills.

Although I have enjoyed the rest of the books in this series, and this novella was well-written, I thought it a little icky that the female protagonist, Savannah, was only eighteen. The male protagonist, Gideon, was over three hundred years old; their relationship would have been a little more believable if Savannah had at least been a college senior.

It was short and I found some mistakes, but I would totally read it again. Now I need to get the rest of the series.

Savannah Dupree is a college student with the ability to see the past with a simple touch. When her roommate is murdered she's desperate to find answers that lead to the truth. Enter Gideon, a Breed warrior, with ties to a sword that killed his brothers. He didn't expect Savannah to be a Breed mate. Can Gideon protect Savannah? Your answers await you in A Touch of Midnight .

Story was a bit weak compared to Lara Adrian’s other Breed Novels.

Perhaps it was too short for character development. I just felt the book lacked something.

I loved Gideon and Savannah's story. The fact the author gave Savannah the ability to see into the past which previewed what kind of character Gideon would be. The Order members had their own unique gifts which is a plus. It's a short book but a quick must read!
