At Miss Minchin's Select Seminary for Young Ladies, young Sara Crewe enjoys the friendship of her classmates and the staff—much to stern Miss Minchin's disdain. When Sara is unexpectedly impoverished, she is forced to become a servant under Miss Minchin's control. To escape her dreary life, Sara imagines herself as a princess, and her experiences soon teach her that being a princess on the inside counts more than any outward expression of royalty.
First published in 1905, A Little Princess is a much-loved novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, author of The Secret Garden. This edition is one of Barnes & Noble's Collectible Editions classics for young readers. It features the full color art of Ethel Franklin Betts, an elegant bonded-leather binding, a ribbon bookmark, and distinctive gilt edging. This volume will provide hours of pleasure for readers of all ages.

A Little Princess is a classic story of a rich little girl who is put under the care of a bitter, selfish schoolhouse matron. At first, the girl is treated as a star pupil; but when her father dies a ruined man, she is cruelly forced to become a servant of the schoolhouse—but her sweet, vibrant nature keeps her alive during these hard times. I have seen quite a few movie adaptations, but the book is much better than the movies. This is a good book for people of all ages to read.

Again another great B&N collection. Now if they can please add to their leather bound collection The Blue Cat of Castle Town by Catherine Cate Coblentz.

The movie was one of my favotires growing up and the book is just as great. Although I will say I loved the ending to the movie a lot more but in order to find out why you'll have to read this great, beautiful tale about a little girl who is a princess no matter where or who she is/becomes.

I thought that when I got this as a gift, I'd hate it. I'm not into girly books, or princesses. But this book isn't about some princess finding some prince, it's about finding herself. And finding the strengths to believe in yourself, it's definitely not your average story. It can teach amazing lessons about the true meaning of love, loss and tolerance. Hats off to Frances Hodgson Burnett, READ IT! :)
