If there's a subgenre of this category then Blake must be the mistress because she invests a lot of time in this story on the spy tale started two books ago in The Dom Who Loved Me (and skipped over in the second book, The Men With The Golden Handcuffs). Me? I'm a fan of the spy story, which takes center stage here, with many more scenes than the London BDSM club that the security team uses for this mission. The romance itself is also almost secondary, taking up the middle third of the book between the backstory of Liam and the climax of the action. I liked it, a lot. The book's well-written, the story interesting (if a bit intricate and out-there) and the romance very genuine, with you pulling for Liam and Avery from the start. That's kind of what happens when you have two made-for-each-other people--the story goes too quickly unless there's a lot more going on, and in this story there is. They each have ghosts to exorcise, villains to uncover and nefarious plots to foil, all of which threaten their newfound love. My quibbles (and why it's a 4) is that Liam's accent is hard to pull off (he's Irish) and though we're told he grew up in Dublin poverty I'm not sure American readers get all that accent entails--it's not lilting Irish brogue here, it's more like Liverpool cockney at times and when combined with his "cover" accent of "Midwest" perfect English it's kind of jarring. Without a lot of experience hearing it, the words sound odd on the page. Second, the romance (and the BDSM) could have been more. Even in the week-long timeline of the book, given her interest from the start in being dominated he could have taken her to the club, played around, etc. He didn't because he was mad at his boss. I think Lexi Blake could have gotten around this somehow to make the romance more exciting. It was sweet, it was loving, but that's not all that's expected in BDSM erotica. That said, I loved the characters and was very happy for their HEA. Finally, the resolution of the spy plot, though nicely sketched out and suspenseful, is kind of sad and stressful. We learn pretty early on that Avery's boss is a bad guy, a sadist, and has evil plans for her, but the "why" in the end isn't totally pulled off, in my view. There's a lot of mishmash of spy language that substitutes for a compelling explanation of what's going on, at times. Of course I still loved the book and recommend it for those who like a complex, well-written plot to go with their semi-kinky romance.

Amazing Series!! Ok, so with the title like A Dom is Forever you know this going to be a book with hot sex and a strong male lead and lady who likes a man who takes charge for nook melting sex. Which is it was, but what you might not realize is that this story is also a pulse pounding action thriller from the first word. This whole series is brilliant but with book Ms Blake shocked me and had me enthralled I didn't want to put it down. You'll love Liam and Avery and the secondary cast of characters will have you wanting to read the first two in this series and clamoring for more from Lexi Blake. She's a mistress with words and will have your pulse pounding from the action and steamy sex. You'll love this book and then you'll want to hunt down the rest of her books.

Avery's life has been filled with a terrible series of losses. She works as an admin assistant to the worlds greatest philanthropist in the best charity for foreign aid so she can make a difference. Liam may have come from a family in the IRA, but he now works for the good guys and Avery is his new mark. He's willing to go as deep as he needs to get the job done, and satisfy his needs. However, everyone in the spy world has past secrets and the ones kept by Liam, his team, and the agencies they work with may be catching up with them. This is a great 007 meets Cinderella story. The plot is filled with non-stop drama, suspense, and steamy romance. Parts will make you laugh, some will want to make you throw your book at specific characters, and others will have you finding your loved ones to hold. The characters are engaging and the accents, Brittish and Irish, are realistic. Just because the book is mostly suspense does not mean it can be read by the under 18 crowd. It does contain Dom/sub training, spanking, and anal. It also does not have to be read in conjunction with the rest of the series, although it is highly recommended. - Alicia Devereaux Reviews

I thought the story and subject matter was brilliantly done. I admit, I chose this book because I was curious. Hey, I'll admit, this isn't my usual book to read. But I read 50 shades-and I wanted to see how others wrote about this subject matter. I was sucked into the story immediately. Liam is an Irish Mercenary working for an American (I admit-I always fall for an Irishman). He is sent to ferret out information on a shady man who is running a charity as a front for darker things. Avery is a woman who has suffered many things in her life--and fought to regain it. She refuses to sink into bitterness. She's found a dream job as an assistant to a man who wants to make a difference. What she doesn't expect is to meet a man who will change her world and perceptions. Liam and Avery are two very tortured souls, one who needs to forgive and another who has the capacity to do so. Together they become stronger. I won't say much more about the plot--but it is very well done. I loved this story. Because I cared about the Hero/Heroine. I wanted to *know* what happened--who was this man running the charity--how were Avery and Liam going to learn to deal with each other. Sure, this book has BDSM, but it was a lifestyle more than a focus. The focus was the plot--and those that were sucked into it. Liam didn't force his life on Avery, he explained it, offered it and slowly she accepted it. I could completely understand everything she did and it didn't detract from the story. It has sex in it--but it was part of larger situation--and life. Certainly this book isn't for everyone--but I am looking forward to reading more from this author. I thought the pacing was perfect, I enjoyed the characterizations. I had to keep turning the page, just when I thought I knew who someone was--I was proven wrong (If you can do that to me I am totally on board with you as a reader). I highly recommend this book.

Oh-Em-Gee. I knew it! But really, I had no clue! (clear as mud, right?!?) I mean, I knew that this book was about secrets, but I had no way of knowing how exciting, and unexpected, those secrets were. There really are no words to describe how much I loved this book. The characters were engaging, the plot was inspired, the action non-stop, and the surprises were out of this world! Liam. Oh, Liam! I knew you were hiding something, but even still, you captured my imagination. The more secrets came to light, the more seemed to be hidden deep. Every page seemed to throw something new at me, and I just couldn't stop reading! Not only his past, but the hurts from that past that seemed to come up when I least expected it. And Avery, her tragedy made me want to weep. Her ability to bounce back, and come out on top is inspiring! It seemed that no matter how much life took away, she managed to turn it around and make it into something amazing. Liam and Avery were a well matched pair, each bringing their own strengths and weaknesses to the relationship. Their story was perfect! This is a fast paced, dramatic love story. And that ending! Totally came out of left field, and definitely not something I could have predicted! It could be read as a stand alone, but there is an ongoing story arc that continues from previous books. The series is set up in a way, that each book has its own story, but also builds upon the events from the other stories. The book feels complete, but definitely leaves me wanting that next story!

This book is one of my all time favorite Lexi Blake books! Liam and Avery have a sweet and steamy love story. It is the classic story of a man finding redemption and a women finding her strength! The McKay-Taggart team head to London in search of a terrorist. This book has twists, romance, action and humor. Liam and Avery are one of my all time favorite couples and if you have read the first two books in the series it is great to read about Liam finding love. This is a one click must!

Last night I stayed up late to finish reading A Dom is Forever, Book 3 in the Masters and Mercenaries series by Lexi Blake. This book is about Avery and Liam. Liam O'Donnell is a former SAS and IRA rom Ireland who became a part of Ian Taggerty's team at McKay & Taggerty Security Firm about five years ago after a terrible mission went horribly wrong resulting in his brothers death. Avery Charles is 28 yr old personal assistant to philanthropist millionaire, who up to three years ago was an agoraphobic who lived in NY. Our book has Avery in London working on getting a huge shipment of food sent to an African nation as a humanitarian aide. Avery's life has been racked with horrible pain and terrible loss. She lost her parents when she was a child, then her aunt took all of her inheritance. Avery married at 18 and had a baby shortly after, only to lose both of them to a terrible car accident where she was driving. It took almost 8 years before Avery could regain the use of her legs. She has terrible scars and still has issues with her legs, but she's trying to live a life that moves past tragedy. She has big self esteem issues and that causes major issues between her and Liam. This book is a continuation within the series, while I think it could easily be read alone it does help to have prior knowledge on some of the main players. this book definitely is fast paced and emotional with tons of twists and turn that will shock you. The character development is definitely spot on. However my biggest issue is this book was very similar as the last two books. You have an alpha man who is put into a position where he has to find out if the women is telling the truth or if they are apart of a terrible situation. Trying to determine if the women are involved or not, leads the men to lie to the women about who they really are. And each time the women find out, flip out, and then so easily forgive the men! That I just don't understand. A man lies to me, I'm not so sure I'd forgive them in less than 24 hrs.' no matter who tells me the truth. How can you really believe anything after such lies? I wish the women heroines were stronger and told the men to go f*ck themselves. Also this is supposed to be a BDSM novel, and there are very little features to BDSM, it is more vanilla then the others novels in the series. While Liam and Avery seems very realistic characters and definitely draw you into the series, this one isn't my favorite.

I loved Liam and Avery's story. It was great to read about Liam's background and discovery of the events of his past. It was great to see him overcome his past and let someone in. Avery's past was heartbreaking but it made her such a strong and beautiful person in the end. Her lost gave her the willpower to keep going. Liam's love gave her the strength to actually live again. I enjoyed reading this story and seeing both Liam and Avery overcome their pasts to build a future together. It was also amazing to see Liam finally have the answers he'd been looking for concerning the missing pieces of his past. The men in this series are a fierce bunch of alpha males. I can't wait to read Alex and Eve's story next. I'm beyond curious to discover what lies behind the rift of this couple and how they will move forward with their lives.
