Overview
According to most knowledgeable people, there were 2606 people killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Actually, the correct figure should be 2605. This novel is the story of the one person who shouldn't have been included among the fatalities.
Fred Young had a successful career in agricultural finance in Omaha, Nebraska, but his life felt empty. He had been pretending his entire life, believing in and trying to live the Great Mid-American Dream.
When presented with the opportunity, he escaped from his previous life and embarked on a search for what he really wanted. 2605 is the story of how he started a new life with very little money, no friends, no family, no credentials, nothing.
From the various pre- and post-publication reviews:
- A real page-turner! Gripping and mesmerizing!
- I couldn't stop reading because I wanted to know what happened next!
- This book is excellent: well-written, well-researched and more importantly, a story that treats people with empathy and understanding.
- I love it! Love it! Love it!
- I just finished the book and enjoyed it VERY much! If I don't enjoy a book, I don't finish, it but 2605 is an interesting read; and I especially enjoyed the ending because it was unpredictable.
- A fascinating concept that pulled me in very quickly. I'm hooked!
- I love it! I've recommended it to my book club!
- I really enjoyed the book. It was hard to put down, such an interesting dilemma for the protagonist. I wasn't quite sure where the author was going with it, but he did a great job! I definitely recommend the book!
