A very well written novel, with such a warm, gentle, positive feel to it. I loved the engaging story line and the innate goodness of the characters - and, I loved the fact that although sex is a part of the story, it doesn't need to be spelled out or belabored. This was a lovely, romantic, enjoyable, POSITIVE read. **PLEASE** do something about all the typos, though! The writing is far too good to be dragged down by a lack of proper editing. Skipped words were the biggest issue.

Jean Oren did not write a cliffhanger. She wrote a story about Devon and Olivia. They had met in college and fell headfirst into live. Devon was a small town naftive, and he felt lucky that such a sophisticate as Olivia would deign to date him. They broke up when het family stepped between them. He didn't try to fight back because Olivia asked him to understand why she had to cut off any relationship with him. A decade had passed and just when Olivia had decided to accept Luke's probable propsal, Devon interupts him. He convinces Olivia to come home with him because he had something she needed. This is a story about second chances, and what happens when people are afraid to trust. I found it a wee bit cloying, especially the townfolk. It seems to be "Mayberry-ish". Except for the Boss Hogg character. Nobody that selfish lived in Mayberry!!!

Second Chances. Devon and Olivia have been apart for ten years and there is a lot of pain between them. However in order to save his town, Devon must persuade her not only to speak with him but to buy into his plan. Star crossed lovers, who were previously not able to hold on to their love for each other; will they get together this time, or will they need the help of the town?

Seemed like it was going to be a great read but way to drawn out. The concept was good.

I was happy to read the story because of the amazing ending! Loved that the author mentioned her love of writing to her readers and gave us an insight look into why she created these novels. I’ll be continuing to read her books. Worth reading till the end!

Second Chances This is a great story. Devon wants to save his town from a dam being built, so he is running for mayor and trying to reconnect with his college love. He has a natural resource for her cosmetic company. Olivia was trying to avoid Devon until he showed up at her hotel where her father's company is having a retreat. He brings her to Blueberry Springs and shows her. Now they have worked to do.

Wonderful Story! A second chance romance filled with heartbreak, hope and redemption. A great start to the new Veils and Vows series! Devon & Olivia story is sweet, sexy, romantic and heartbreaking at times. My favorite line in the story was "Somewhere between your world and my world is our world". That line just melted my heart and pretty much says what this story is all about, bringing two worlds together and working through life's minefields to get to the HEA!! Can't wait to read the next story!!

Emotionally thrilling, sweetly sexy, highly entertaining second chance romance with a fake not so fake fiance twist. Very enjoyable reading. Devon Mattson is a sweet, charming and sexy hometown boy that never dreamed he would be fake engaged to the one women that broke his heart to save his small hometown. Olivia Carrington is a sassy, sexy, sweet and determined woman looking to save her family company. She never dreamed a fake engagement to the one that got away a decade ago would be the solution. Looking forward to more Veils and Vows.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Great story and great detail is taken to draw the town of Blueberry Springs and the people in it for you. I felt like I was there, and living thru the annoyance, pain and forgiveness between Devon and Olivia.

Second Chance With her Ex... I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Devon and Olivia were from different sides of the tracks - she was filthy rich and he wasn't. But that had no impact on their love for one another and from young sweethearts they stayed together even when they went to college. But things happen and life intrudes and Olivia broke up with Devon. Devon is a character that was so easy to like and love. he cares passionately about their small town and all the people that he loves. Olivia has left their hometown and bitterly regrets the way that she broke up with Devon. Now, ten years later, she has to go back as her family business is in trouble. Devon offers her a lifeline and before they even realise what is happening, they are engaged to each other. Furthermore, Devon is still the wonderful fun-loving, caring and sexy male that she loved all those years ago. Is this fake engagement going to become real? Will they realise the mistakes they made were just that, mistakes, and grasp this second chance of being together? Remember Devon's heart was crushed by her leaving him and he's been guarding it ever since. I loved the way Jean Oram described the characters so well that they seemed like the type of people I would like to know in my friendship group. The storyline was good and very realistic. I realise that this is part of a series and I confess that I haven't read the book before but this was still easy to understand as a standalone. having said that I did enjoy this story very much and want to know more about the people and their town so I will be starting to look for more of the series to enjoy. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED

I loved the small town of Blueberry Springs. All the eccentric, nosy and loving neighbors are wonderful. They look out for each other and are willing to lend a helping hand when needed ....or when they believe it’s needed. Hahaha I really liked Devon. He is such a sweet, caring and good hearted man. Seeing that his town is in trouble Devon is willing to do whatever it takes to save it. Even if that means working together with his ex. She blew his heart to smithereens years ago and he’s still trying to recover. Doing what’s in the best interest for his town will be hard but he’s not willing to just give up and let the town fall to ruin. Olivia is sweet, hardworking and determined. She’s on a mission to not only save her family’s company but make it better. Imagine her surprise when Devon is the one to present her with an opportunity to do just that. Their relationship had ended less than amicably and she always regretted it. With walls built high around her heart Olivia excepts Devon’s offer and travels to Blueberry Springs. Things start to get crazy as protesters attack every chance they get. Trying to win over the hearts and minds of the people in Blueberry Springs and dispel the negative PR Olivia and Devon suddenly find themselves engaged. Will this fake engagement end up destroying both their careers and leave them both still heartbroken...or will it help them to overcome the past? Allowing them to heal and mend the broken pieces. Will it rekindled the love they once had for each other?

Devon and Olivia dated while they were in college. After a bad breakup, they didn’t see each other until 10 years later. Devon is running for mayor of the small town of Blueberry Springs. Olivia is working in her family’s cosmetic business. They each have something that will help the other’s career. Can they put aside the bad feelings that resulted from their breakup and work together? I thoroughly enjoyed The Surprise Wedding. This book had two of my favorite things. A second chance romance set in a small town. I recommend The Surprise Wedding to anyone who enjoys a good second chance romance.
