Summary: The story of a donkey, cat, dog and rooster whose owners no longer see value in them take off to Brementown to be musicians. Genre: FolktalePersonal Reflection: I remember reading another version of this folktale when I was young and really like the story. Concept: There is so much good here! This story teaches kids that you can do whatever you set your mind to, that even if a door closes-a window opens, that you can do unexpected and wonderful things even if no one else sees it.

I found this book really cute. It has a twist in the ending which I found funny. It's about a group of animals who are heading to Bremen Town to become musicians. It starts with a donkey who was 'Fearing the worst' because he couldn't help the farmer anymore. On the way he met a rooster, dog, and cat who joined him on his journey. 'The friends walked on and on, but Bremen-Town was still a long way off'. When they stop and rest for the night is when the twist comes in. When I first began reading the story, it reminded me of the 'Wizard of Oz'. Plume, Ilse. The Bremen-Town Musicians. Bantam Doubleday Dell Books, 1980.
