I saw that special on television, including the repeat airings of it (it was even aired last week - almost 20 years later) and their vocals and harmonies are still beautiful and they sounded better than so-called, computer generated, singers, out there today.

This album is probably as good as any compilation of studio recordings because it creates a perfect equilibrium between the disco and non-disco material. Even the first song is a medley of the disco ''You Should be Dancing'' and the ballad ''Alone''. Most of the hits are here, from the early ''To Love Somebody'' to ''Lonely Days'', ''Jive Talkin''', ''How Deep is Your Love'' and of course ''Stayin' Alive''. Even the reletively recent ''Islands in the Stream'' is included. The only hit missing is ''I've Got to Get a Message to You'', although that song is included on the accompanying video. The arrangements are rather identical to the origionals, but there is still a rich, full sound and the vocals are in top form. There isn't much on here for owners of the studio versions, but it makes an excellent intro to the band for anyone who is just mildly curious. Highlights include ''Lonely Days'', ''Heartbreaker'', ''I Can't See Nobody'' and the underrated ''Tragedy'', one of the band's finest disco-era songs. So, even if you are ashamed to buy an album by a band famous for disco, there's plenty for you here. (Come on, secretly you can't help tapping your foot every time you hear ''Jive Talkin'''; you just won't admit it).
