Don DeLillo

The award-winning radical thinker is known for politically charged fiction.

Don DeLillo’s reputation was secured with his 1985 novel White Noise, a book that called attention to the dangers of consumer culture and its attendant toxic emissions. The book won the National Book Award. Delillo’s many novels since (Libra , Underworld, and others) have also garnered prizes. In 1999 he became the first American author to receive the Jerusalem Prize for a body of work expressing the theme of the freedom of the individual in society. DeLillo is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
