Amanda Cross was the pseudonymous author of the bestselling Kate Fansler mysteries. As Carolyn G. Heilbrun (1926-2003), she taught English at Columbia University for more than three decades. She was the first woman to receive tenure in the English Department and was also a prolific feminist author. Dr. Heilbrun’s other books include: Writing a Woman’s Life, Hamlet’s Mother and Other Women, The Education of a Woman: The Life of Gloria Steinem, and The Last Gift of Time: Life Beyond Sixty.
